LinkedIn and outbound lead generation systemsBuilt to book meetings, not to send volume

A predictable way to start conversations with people who should already know you. I build these systems for clients and I run one for my own business, which is where most of what follows was learned.

Why most outbound fails

Almost every failed campaign I have been asked to fix has the same cause. The list was wrong.

Not the copy, not the sending tool, the list. Sending a good message to people who were never going to buy produces nothing except a damaged domain.

The second cause is fake personalisation. Everyone can now spot a merge field dressed up as a compliment. It reads worse than sending nothing.

How it works

Five steps, in this order

1

Define the buyer

Narrow enough that you could name twenty companies off the top of your head.

2

Build the list

Sourced and verified. Quality over volume, every time.

3

Write the sequence

Short, specific, human. Personalisation only where it is genuinely true.

4

Warm the infrastructure

Domains, inboxes and sending limits, so you land rather than bounce.

5

Run and report

Weekly, measured to replies and booked meetings.

What gets reported

Four numbers, and not one of them is an open rate

RepliesEverything that came back, including the no. A clean no is data.
PositiveReplies that want a conversation. The only reply worth celebrating.
MeetingsBooked and in the calendar. The actual product of the campaign.
HealthBounce rate, spam placement and domain reputation, watched weekly.

Meetings, not volume

Who you go after decides everything

The list, the message, and what counts as a good meeting. All three get settled before a single sequence goes out.

How I build it

A small right list beats a large wrong one

We define who actually buys, narrowly enough that the list is small and obviously right. Then we build it from real sources rather than buying a database, and verify it before anything is sent.

The sequence is short and written like a person wrote it. LinkedIn and email together, because the same name appearing twice is what creates recognition. Everything is measured to booked meetings. Open rates are a vanity metric and I will not report them as if they were results.

Who this is for

You will get the most out of this if

  • B2B businesses with a clear buyer and a deal size that justifies outbound
  • Consultancies and agencies that grow on referrals and want a second channel
  • Founders entering a new market with no network in it yet
  • Teams already sending outbound and getting nothing back
What you get

Everything included, named

Every line here is real scope. If something is not listed, ask and I will tell you straight whether it is included.

01

Buyer definition

Narrow enough that you could name twenty target companies from memory.

02

Verified list

Built from real sources and checked before anything is sent. Quality over volume.

03

Sequence copy

Short, specific and human. Written in your voice and approved by you.

04

Sending infrastructure

Separate domains, warmed inboxes and sensible limits so you land rather than bounce.

05

LinkedIn plus email

Run together, because the same name appearing twice is what creates recognition.

06

Weekly reporting

Replies, positive replies and booked meetings. Not open rates.

Questions

Straight answers

Is automated outreach still worth doing?

Yes, when the list is right and the message reads like a person wrote it. What no longer works is volume without either of those.

Will this damage my domain reputation?

Not if it is set up properly. We send from separate domains, warm them, and keep volumes within limits. Anyone who ignores that will burn your main domain.

What do you report on?

Replies, positive replies and booked meetings. Open rates have become close to meaningless and I will not present them as a result.

Do you write the messages?

Yes, and you approve them. They go out in your voice, so you should be comfortable reading every line aloud.
